The Berkeley Rhinos Club
The Berkeley Rhinos Rugby Club is dedicated to educating its members how to play the sport of rugby safely, and competing with other teams in northern California. The club welcomes male high school students of all abilities in the East Bay. Freshmen and Sophomores play on the JV team; Juniors and Senior play on the Varsity team.
Practices take place at the Tom Bates Regional Sports Complex (Gilman Fields) on Tuesday and Thursday evenings (5:00 to 7:00 pm), and Saturday mornings (9:00 am to noon). Wednesday sessions allow players to watch video and learn more about the sport. Saturday morning matches take place in February, March and April.
Following The Match
Following matches, the teams meet to recognize the best players from the other team, and the home team provides food and soft drinks to enhance the sport's mutual respect and camaraderie. Parents and guardians assist by providing food, driving car pools to away matches, and monitoring the sidelines during matches.
Youth Rugby Association
The club is a member of USA Rugby and RugbyNorCal. It operates under the fiscal sponsorship of Bay Area Youth Rugby, Inc., a tax-exempt nonprofit 501(c)(3) public benefit corporation.
